  • Karam Yokathon is an annual long distance race conducted by YOKE for promoting unity and fostering inclusion. It is organised in the name of its main sponsors, the family of Kamala & Ramalingam. Karam (in Tamil) incidentally symbolises empowerment. The first Yokathon was held in Dec 2014, and registered participation from 450 persons hailing from 86 villages, across age groups and gender.

The second Yokathon was held on 24 January 2016, Sunday. The theme was “Let’s do ONE big thing to live in unity” inspired by poet Bharati’s line : oTrumailkkuL uyyavE oru perum cheyal seivAi. It featured three events, 21 km for adult men, 15 km for men, women, boys and girls 15 years or older, and 6 km for adult women, girls and boys 12-15 years of age. This event was co-sponsored by the family of Saraswathi & Balasubramanyam.

The event had 530 registrations, and 387 participations. Click here for a photo-story.

Yokathon 2017 will be held on Sunday, 22 Jan 2017.

Registrations open on: 1 Dec 2016
