  • The Barefoot Marathon: An Initiative by The Coorg Wellness Foundation & United Sisters Foundation

Our Objective: Is to reconnect the people of Coorg (everyone who lives in Coorg with Coorg) to empower us to make informed individual and collective decisions that impact our people as a community. The first step in any reconnection is personal. A personal connect of body to earth.
By taking off our shoes and running barefoot we accomplish a number of direct and indirect objectives.

Direct connection through our feet leads to new forms of awareness in our body and mind, a resurgence of spirit, health and healing. Running is easily understood and accepted as a fundamental form of tribal and social wisdom. We would like to reawaken the pride of indigenous tradition amongst the local population on the equal platform of barefoot endurance running.

How are we doing this: People of Coorg will come together on Dec 10th and launch the third edition of The Barefoot Marathon.

Venue – Pollibetta Tata Coffee Sport Ground

Category – Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 10km, 1Mile

Symbolically, by taking off our shoes we initiate our reconnection to the earth. By planting a Sacred Grove of Trees we symbolise a positive affirmation of our connection with the environment. This seed is a symbol of the seed of change within ourselves. And begin a journey of self empowerment to make Right Choices concerning our own health and the health of our community, tribe and Nation. To realise balance in our lives: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.

Looking forward to seeing more local participation this year.
