  • We are pleased to introduce Rotary Club of Porvorim and would like to let you know a few facts about our activities and projects that are making a positive impact to the community. Rotary club of Porvorim, Club No 50338, is a part of Rotary District 3170 and was chartered on 30th April 1997.

Every year the Rotary Club of Porvorim supports many worthy charity projects that change and save lives. Projects which we have supported in the past include conducting program to help developmental behavior and emotional problems in school children in Goa, providing safe drinking water purifier to schools, adoption of school, promote self-help group, blood donation camps, medical check-ups, children libraries, literacy projects and many more.

Our flagship project is the Prakash Cancer Aid Project. We have recently set up a “ Women’s Health Care Center” with a Mammography Machine to create awareness and conduct camps and check -up for breast and cervical cancer in association with R G Stone Hospital located in Alto Porvorim. These services are being offered free of cost to poor and needy.

So far Rotary Club of Porvorim –

    • Conducted more than 150 counselling camps.
    • More than 3400 women attended these camps.
    • More than 2500 women undergone PAP smear test.
    • 3 women were operated for uterus removal.
    • Procured Colposcopy Machine for detection of cervical cancer
    • Setup Women Healthcare Center with Mammography Machine

    • 1 Women were operated for breast cancer.
    • 3 girls supported for cancer treatment under 20 years

These services are offered free of cost to poor and needy and at subsidized cost for others in Goa. It is pertinent to note that those who require assistance for further treatment receive adequate support from Rotary Club of Porvorim.

To support our various charity projects, we will be hosting the 4th edition of Rotary Rain Run as a fundraising event for our club with 100% of raised funds going back to community through various charity projects being undertaken by the club. The event will get wide publicity through print media / Radio / TV and social media across Goa and neighboring States.

Each year, our organization undertakes numerous community welfare projects and assist individuals in need. Donations help us in increasing our reach and benefit to the community which we serve.

THIS YEAR – Rotary Rain Run, will be held on 29th July 2018

This year too, we intend to repeat the Half Marathon and increase the participation by 4 fold and thrive once again to mark the run as one of the professional timed event with prize money. As usual we are looking at participation from across the states and from the running squad & clubs.

The funds raised by this program will support not only the operating cost of Women Health Care Center (A breast cancer detection Unit) but also support treatment cost of the identified women below poverty line, suffering with Breast / Cervical Cancer. Also the funds will be used for Women’s Health / Education, Menstrual Hygiene and community services.
