Rotary Cochin Central is one of the premier Rotary Clubs of Cochin with a 25 year legacy of stellar service to society. Over the years the club has been known for its innovative and path breaking projects aimed at providing service to the disadvantaged sections of society. The orphanage at Thevakkal supported by the club, support to the Prime Ministers Swachh Bharat Abhiyan project by building more than 70 toilets in record time etc are just some of the work done by the club in the last couple of years.
Since 2016 the club has started extending support to the aged as a part of its efforts at social engagement. This initiative is specifically focussed on helping people afflicted with Alzheimer’s / age related dementia and is expected to benefit the elderly who find it difficult / unaffordable to organise the required nursing & care. To raise funds for this purpose the club has been organising a run titled as “RUN4LIFE” at Cochin since 2015.
The first edition had a participation of 800 people and it increased in the second edition to 1400 runners from various avenues of society. This year we plan to conduct the Run on December 17 and there would be a 14 km, 5 km and kids run with attractive prizes across various categories for the 14 km run.
The event starts from Durbar Hall Ground, Ernakulam, with a 5 Km and 14 Km “RUN” under the title “The Run 4 Life”-“Caring The Aged”, scheduled on 17th December 2017.
The reporting time for 14 Km run is 5:00 am, event will start at 5:30 am and the reporting time for 5 Km run is 5:30 am, event will start at 6:00 am.
